Windsor Chair
Nice example of an elm Windsor Chair dating from around 1890-1900. It has a makers mark “AE”, likely belongs to the chair maker, Alfred East, of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. The chair is made in the wider popular style rather than strictly following the regional pattern.
The chair has signs of old dormant woodworm, (which has been recently treated, just in case). It has some wearing loss to the front of the right arm-rest and the front left leg has been expertly replaced it was badly compromised. To show the honest repair, the leg has not fully been restored to match the colour of the others, but this is something a purchaser could do if they so wished.
